Prairie View Welcomes New Skyline Principal

Dear Families,

Welcome to Skyline Elementary School!  An incredible opportunity awaits us as we begin to write our first chapter in the story of Skyline Elementary. I am honored and humbled to serve as the principal of Skyline Elementary School and look forward to the opportunity to serve this amazing learning community.

As I begin my 20th year in education, I am convinced this will be the best year yet! My educational and life experiences have greatly influenced who I am today. I grew up in Lander, Wyoming with my parents and twin brother. Upon graduating from high school I attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls earning my bachelor's degree in elementary education and then my master's degree in educational administration from Concordia University in 2010.

I began my teaching career in the Pulaski Community School District in Pulaski, Wisconsin as a first grade teacher (7yrs.). I later became an elementary assistant principal/third grade teacher (1 yr.) and then the opportunity to be an elementary principal (4yrs) all in the Pulaski Community School District. Throughout my years spent in Wisconsin I served as a high school head swimming/diving coach leading and building a highly successful program. In addition, I spent time as an adjunct instructor for Concordia University. Throughout the last seven years I have served the Lake Pend Oreille School District as an elementary school principal (6 yrs.) as well as the Technology Director. (1 yr.).

As I look forward to the future, I envision Skyline Elementary School as a place where excellence in education means educating the whole child. Together, we will aim to provide the knowledge, skills, abilities, attitudes and beliefs that are essential for a productive and successful life. I recognize that these goals are best achieved when the school provides an environment in which teachers, parents, staff and others develop and practice core values that benefit the academic, emotional and social needs of all children.

Strong communication between home and school forms the basis for the caring, nurturing, family atmosphere that is essential to Skyline Elementary School. This atmosphere promotes an excellence in teaching that results in high academic achievement and enables children to realize personal excellence at all levels.

I see Skyline Elementary school education as forming a sound foundation for life-long learning. All children can learn, and we can develop within each student the desire to know the tools to seek, and the ability to find, understand and use information as a means to becoming productive contributors to a complex, ever-changing, and diverse society.

Join us in our Skyline Elementary school journey as we provide our future with endless opportunities to become learners and leaders in all aspects of their life. Let us work together to make Skyline Elementary a place children love to attend, a place in which parents believe their children are receiving an education second to none, and a place where our staff members express their joy of working with pride.

Yours in education,

Erik A. Olson, Principal
